Expedition Leader North & South Pole Ice Party
Sean joined the Royal Marines in October 1984 after completing the 8 month commando
course, and gaining the coveted green beret. Since then he has
had the opportunity to train and operate in most environments around the
globe. During his extensive career he has served with all three Commando Units within 3 Commando
Brigade and served at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines as a recruit
instructor. Seeking to compliment the extreme challenges offered by
the Royal Marines he sought further challenges through expeditions.
Sean is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
Keeping Track 1998
Polar guide and adviser for Robertsbridge Community College
expedition to the Canadian High Arctic - the first British school to
reach the magnetic North Pole. Patronage received from Sir Ranulph Fiennes and
Lieutenant Colonel John Blashford-Snell.
Polar North Expedition 1998
Expedition Leader for the first ever attempt by the Royal Marines at walking unaided to the geographical North Pole. Attempted aborted
when crucial equipment failed. Patronage received from HRH Duke of Edinburgh and Major General David Pennefather Commandant General Royal Marines.
Polar Communication Expedition 1997
Expedition leader for a 4-week expedition to the High Arctic to test
and evaluate methods of achieving reliable communications in the
harsh Arctic environment.
Frozen Fields Expedition 1997
Expedition Leader of 12-week memorial ski expedition to Beechy
Island, Canadian High Arctic to pay tribute to the last resting place of Royal Marine William Braine (1846).
Stogonoski Challenge 1996
Conducted a solo 24-hour ski in Norway to raise funds and awareness for Spinal Research. Icelandic 500 Expedition 1995
Icelandic 500
Leader of the first ski crossing of Iceland from West to East. 4-man team
completed the 500-mile journey in 47 days, and raised funds for Spinal Research.

African Adventure 1994
Expedition Leader for a 4-man circumnavigation of east the principle East African states using public transport only.
Kenya, Uganda, Zaire, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

Leader of 4-man unsupported ski expedition across the Rondane National Park, Norway.
Grand Canyon Ironman Challenge 1992
Leader for a multi-team challenge to Arizona, USA. 270-mile cycle across San Francisco Mountains, 30-mile trek
through Grand Canyon, 106-mile run through Painted Desert and 4-mile swim at Flagstaff. Funds raised for Childhood Cancer Research.
Patronage received from Sir Jimmy Saville and Michael Aspel.
