I have been on half pay with the exception of one year I served with Captain Sir Edward Parry on HM Ship Hecla in his attempt to reach the North Pole.

Through the donation, or loan, of equipment to the Polar Quest

comprehensive evaluations in a controlled chamber environment prior
to the expedition and on completion of both ski treks a
comprehensive performance report will be raised and made available
to equipment suppliers and the Ministry of Defence.
Management & Advice
Throughout the expedition the Directorate of Naval Physical Training
and Sport, the Inspector of Physical Training Royal Marines and the
Royal Marines Major Expeditions Committee are to provide direct
guidance and support with independent expert advice being provided
by Lieutenant Colonel Nick Arding OBE of the Royal Marines who led
the Royal Navy’s first successful expedition to Mount Everest in
2003 and retired SAS Major Bronco Lane who climbed Everest in 1976
and has since led several groundbreaking expeditions to Antarctica
and the Arctic.
Leadership
Expedition Leader Captain Sean Chapple Royal Marines, is no stranger
to organising and leading large projects. A Royal Marines officer
with some 20 years experience, Sean has served on operations
throughout the globe in all environments. Sean has successfully
managed and led ten major expeditions, fund raised over £500,000 and
received patronage from HRH Prince Phillip, Princess Diana, Sir
Ranulph Fiennes, Sir Jimmy Saville and Michael Aspel. Sean was
elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 1997 and is a
Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management.
