The title of the Polar Quest newsletter is based on the 'North Georgia Gazette & Winter Chronicle' which was first published during the Parry Expedition of 1819-1820 and continued to be published on subsequent expeditions.
The gazette was edited by Captain Edward Sabine of the Royal Artillery and distributed to the crews of the Hecla and Griper. It ran for twenty-one issues and due to public demand, it was actually published on their return to Britain .
